Caballo's Escondido is located between Bandera and Medina Texas off Hwy 16. That is in the Texas Hill Country about 1 - 11/2 hr drive from San Antonio TX. We moved here from NM in 1996 and are still trying to get the farm built - as in a house for us. The housing for the horses had to come first.

While we raise primarily Dutch Warmbloods we have a few Quarter horse mares we breed to TB stallions and these foals are also for sale.

Please allow us to tell you a bit about ourselves first. We have been in the business of raising horses for the equine market for the past 19 years together, prior to that we had both been "raised" in the business. Although our beginnings were Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse race horses, in the recent (past 7) years our interest has turned to raising quality Warmbloods. We have selected our best TB mares for confirmation, movement and disposition to cross with Dutch stallions.

All of our foals are raised in large paddocks. We make every effort to keep the foals together with others so that they are well socialized. Including in their socialization is experiencing things such as deer in the paddocks with them, cattle ranging just across the fence, people contact, equipment and normal farm activities going on around them all the time. We feel that this is the best way for them to become accustomed to different things. We do not teach lunging or formal training under 3 years old. The foals have regular maintenance vet care (dewormings, innoculations) and farrier (trimming). We do not and will not use boosted feeds, steroids, and super vitamins in order to get fast early growth or muscling - we feel that the later owner suffers from this in soundness problems. They are on a nutritional sound grain mix, grass hay and green grass for grazing.
