Yearling prices are down, and breeders have been faced with tough economic challenges. My Friend Max covered less mares in 2009 than in several previous seasons. It makes sense to reduce his stud fee to help breeders, and in so doing, to help him see more mares in 2010.

Now, more than ever, breeders must demand value when paying for stud services.  Whether you breed to sell, or race your own,  My Friend Max offers excellent value.

Can he throw the Big Horse? In 2009, his son Brother Bean  won 3 stakes sprinting , more than $189,000 and raised his lifetime bankroll to over $434,000.

Does he throw attractive foals? Absolutely! His foals are typically larger than average. In fact, many breeders state the mare has never had such a large foal.  Most often, they are correct, and  endowed with  excellent hip and shoulder.

Do his yearlings attract buyers at the sales? In 2007 at Fasig Tiptons Texas August sale, his yearling colt out of Racing For Riches received a bid of $95,000 but did not achieve his reserve.

No, he doesn’t rank near the top of the earnings list. That list is populated by  stallions with the largest foal crops, because more runners equates to more progeny earnings overall. But more doesn’t necessarily mean better. Since his first season  in Louisiana in 2001, My Friend Max  never had a foal crop large enough to place him on the  money earnings list. But that may soon change, because his 2008 crop numbers over 40 foals. Although limited by small crops  for a number of years, My Friend Max has achieved some of the most impressive statistics in the categories that matter most. But that’s nothing new. From only 3 crops  in South America,  he managed to produce 4 champions!

Study the  table below, to learn why we believe  My Friend Max offers the best stud value  in Louisiana.
