The proof of the success in any breeding program is the quality of the foals that are produced. Over the years, our breeding program has seen the usual changes you find over 20 years but we have always been proud of the results.
We suspended breeding while we were downsizing but once we reached our target numbers, we began again. We are very pleased at the results of the most recent examples, with the first foal on the ground in 2011 and two foals in 2012. We will continue to produce a small, select group of foals, no more than 3 or 4 a year, for discriminating owners who find smaller animals more suitable but are unwilling to give up the talent of the big warmbloods.
FOALS OF 2011
Kaleidoscope's Shirley Temple is a purebred Connemara Pony, sired by Kaleidoscope's O'Really and out of Kaleidoscope's Megan, a half-brother/ half-sister mating that produced well beyond my expectations.
The dressage movement, much of which was carried by their joint sire, Big Bear's Special Order, was intensified in this lovely dilute filly who showed the length of stride and suspension I was hoping for from the day she hit the ground. The fact that she was also a double dilute, something I'd been trying to find without a gray parent for more than 10 years, was just a bonus.
